    Course Description:

Today industry advertisers are increasingly referring to the fracture toughness values of their materials. It is important for clinicians to understand the relevance of these values and how to use that information when making clinical practice decisions. Strength alone is not good predictor of a material's clinical indications, as there are variables that can be influential in crown failure, such as surface treatment or the elastic modulus of the cement used. By understanding the clinical indications of the specific ceramics and cements, you will be more certain of which ones can be used for specific applications

    Topics Will Include:

    ·         Understand the difference between "fracture toughness" and flexural strength

    ·         Identify the proper surface treatment of various indirect restorative materials.

    ·         Distinguishing the difference between 3Y, 4Y, and 5Y-TZP zirconia restorative materials.
